Novice Storm Win Leamington Tournament
The Erie North Shore Novice 2003 team’s hard work and dedication resulted in a TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP IN LEAMINGTON with a 4-3 OT win over Amherstburg.

Game 36 of this season (20-13-3 overall record) was, to date, the highlight of our young season, capping a 4 win 1 loss record in the Leamington tournament this weekend. Our kids compiled wins over SouthPoint, East Gillivary, Brampton and Amherstburg. These kids have continued to improve all year with both team and individual skills that have been taught by the coaching staff. This weekend’s strong goaltending and team defense held opponents to 7 goals against in 5 games. All team members have learned the importance of “BC” and “protecting the HOUSE” while finding enough scoring punch. That has been evenly spread through the entire lineup all season.

This tournament success was fostered by two 2nd place finishes in two previous tournaments. First in September in Essex with a tough loss to Belle River in the finals and then in late October playing four one goal games in Troy, Mi, ultimately losing to home team Troy in a shootout by one shooter and a tough tournament in St Thomas against strong opponents with some hard lessons learned by the team as a team.

In League play to date, the team has grown and improved and had success all at the same time with an 8-4-2 record. We have competed well against all AA centers and are currently undefeated in the league against fellow A centers.

Coaching staff will continue to work to grow team success with many hard league games ahead on the schedule and preparation for the upcoming Silver Stick Tournament in Park Hill December 28-30th and preparing for A play downs in the New Year.

Many thanks to all the teams’ parents, families and friends that continue to support our young players on and off the ice. More good news on the horizon for these young kids for sure!
