Novice Storm Tie Both Games 1 & 2
If this past weekends games were any indication on how this OMHA Championship Series vs Fort Erie will go we know it will be a long one.

The Novice Storm played some real exciting hockey this past weekend with both games ending tie games.   This team of 7 & 8 year olds are quickly learning the act of fate and how this game of hockey is truly a 'game of inches'.
On Saturday afternoon at the Harrow arena the Storm came skating hard and passing the puck great to the capacity crowd with the 'thunderstorm sticks' in hand.  Looking for 'that bounce' the Storm just couldn't find the back of the net on their many chances.  On the defensive end the Storm goaltending was great making a couple of timely saves and the defensive unit were nothing short of being a wall for the Fort Erie squad.  After a hard fought 10 minute Overtime period with again some great opportunities the game ended in a 0-0 tie and both teams would leave with 1 point a piece turning the series into a 6 point series.
On Sunday at the Kingsville arena with another large crowd in attendance more excitement would continue for all spectators.  Fort Erie would finally strike first in the series near the end of the first period.  The Storm would come on strong to start the second with good forchecking and a couple minutes into the period the Storm finally solved the Fort Erie goalie with their 1st of the series.  The Novice Storm would take the lead midway through the 2nd while playing 4 on 4.   Fort Erie would tie the game up at 2 minutes later.  At the end of the 2nd period again both teams found a tie score.  The rest of the game proved some great excitement again. The Storm killed off a couple penalties throughout the 3rd period that left the team 'holding on' !   The luck had turned near the end of the 3rd when Nolan Byron was hauled down on a break away and awarded a penalty shot with only a few minutes left on the clock.  With the crowd on their feet his penalty shot was stopped on a great glove save by the Fort Erie goalie.  Again after regulation play this game ended in a 2 - 2 tie and going to the extra frame.  In Overtime Fort Erie threw everything they could at the Storm even hitting the crossbar but denied the sudden death victory.  The Storm's few chances again stopped by the Meteors great goaltending ending the game 2-2.  Well deserving both teams again received 1 point each.
With the series tied 2 points a piece the Novice Storm will travel to Fort Erie for games 3 and 4 on March 24 & 25.  Thank you to all that have come out to support this great group of 7 & 8 year old kids.
