Another 'tick' in the win column for Select 7's
Strong defensive play coupled with solid backchecking lead to 4th win in a row!

On Friday November 30th, the Select 7 took to their home ice to defend a 3 game winning streak against a hungry Lasalle Sabres team.

Ever attentive to Coach Ryan's instructions prior to the game, "get on the boards", "no passing up the middle", "stay on your wing", "we need to see a goal the first shift of the game"....Cale M, Nate M and Michael H took the first shift of the game....and 12 seconds in, we saw a goal in the first shift of the game...for Lasalle.

Shortly after the first goal of the game, Ty M walked in off the blue line and buried a shot past Lasalle's netminder, tying the game at 1 a piece.  Excellent shifts at both ends of ice and strong positional play saw several scoring chances but both tenders were able to keep the teams at bay.

Great back and forth play in the second period kept the game knotted until Lasalle was able to capitalize on a puck that squirted loose out of the corner to their man in front giving them a 2-1 lead at the 3:32 mark of the second.  Our starting line came out hungry to tie the game back up and at the 3:03 mark, Cale M was able to deke out the Lasalle defense, carry the puck around the net and on a beautiful wrap around, again, tie the game.  Fantastic defensive play on their blue line kept the puck in Lasalle's end and on a clearing attempt, Owen B (10) was able to not only keep the puck in the zone, but stifle the goalie with a bullet shot from the blue line that found the back of the net giving the Storm a 3-2 lead going into the 3rd.

Wanting to keep the winning streak alive, the Storm came out in the third period with a strong winning desire and at the 9:02 mark, Charlie C cut to the net and with two hands on his stick was able to let go of a powerful wrist shot that handcuffed the goalie and gave the Storm a 4-2 lead.  At the 8:11 mark, on a beautiful pass out to the slot my Nate M, Cale M was able to find the back of the net giving us the insurance goal we needed and a 5-2 lead.  Late in the 3rd Lasalle was able to get an additional goal but it was too late in the game to mount a comeback and the Storm were able to hold on for the win and a final score of 5-3.

The team is really meshing together and pregame enthusiasm in the dressing room was great to see.  See everyone at the next practice and the tournament.  Great job team!
