Erie North Shore Storm Peewee Minors - 03/23/13 – 03/24/13 Play-offs
Peewee Minors play two great games against two strong AA teams to close out the season!

Saturday March 23 the Storm played on home ice against the AA Belle River Jr. Canadiens, but there would be no home ice advantage for this team today. Nine penalties in all were called against this team with no penalties called against the opposing team. The Storm outplayed, outshot and dominated the entire game from beginning to end, but Belle River managed to score two times while on the numerous powerplays, resulting in a 2-0 loss for the Storm. Goalie Connor Axford did an amazing job defending the net against 22 shots with the Storm getting 25 shots on net. The entire team did a great job during this game and never gave up. The team should be very proud of their efforts in this very tough game.

Sunday March 24 the Storm headed to LaSalle to play the final game of the season against the AA Sabres. The Storm knew they would have to put forth a strong effort against this team and hit the ice with determination. Goalie Connor Axford started out in net and both teams fought hard for the puck. Unfortunately LaSalle managed to put one in the net right away, but the Storm didn’t let it get them down. The Storm fought off the LaSalle attackers until the last minute of the period when they got one more past the goalie ending the first period with the Storm down by 2. The second period the hard work of the Storm started to pay off when Ethan Litster earned an unassisted goal 6 minutes into the period. LaSalle answered that goal 3 minutes later but one minute after that Ethan found the back of the net again, helped this time by Austin Marr and Michael Connelly. Then right at the second period buzzer Michael let one of his powerful slapshots fly over the shoulder of the Lasalle goalie in an attempt to tie up the score. Unfortunately the refs determined it was after the buzzer and it was no goal for the Storm. In the third the Sabres play intensified as they scored two more times in the first minute of the period. Goalie Scotti Beneteau took over the netminding duties and the Storm went on the defensive, but the Sabres kept pummeling the net with shots, eventually getting three more through. But the Storm refused to give up and with 2 minutes left to play Rebecca Misiasz popped in the final goal of the game and the final Storm goal of the season, assisted by Kristian Pelling and Declan Handley. Connor and Scotti both did a fantastic job in net facing 33 LaSalle shots with the Storm getting 12 shots. Final score for the game was 8-3 for LaSalle.

Even with these last two losses the Storm ended the season with a very impressive record of 35 wins, 20 losses and 7 ties! Thanks to all the kids for always trying their hardest all year and also a big thanks to Coach Troy, Coach Tim, Coach Steve and Manager Rob for all the time and work they dedicated to the team over the season. Now it’s time to get ready for the Harrow 3 on 3 tournament!

Great job out there Peewee Minors! Best of luck next season!!!
