CAPITAL CUP CHAMPIONS
In What could only be desribed as TWO TEAMS ROLLED INTO ONE... The Erie North Shore Peewees took Home the Championship this past weekend in the SOUTHPOINT CAPITALS CUP !!! All this after a poor start to the weekend, but knowing we had the ability to turn it all around and Boy DID WE EVER !!!....

The Erie north Shore Peewee Majors went into the Southpoint Tournament on the Weekend with an Injury Riddled line up. Friday Evening we started out with a loss to the host team, in What could only be described as "not our best effort , mixed with some hometown officiating".. Headed into Saturday we played the pre tournament favourite from Barrie and gave the Jr Colts all they could handle in What turned out to be a great effort by the kids but came up on the short end of the stick once again. Saturday afternoon saw the Storm lose once again to Caledonia .. thus giving up the 4 seed headed into Semi Final Play on Sunday. With this tournament set up, 3 straight losses in qualifying round meant you would have to play the #1 seed right off the bat on Sunday morning in a cold Wheatley Arena... The Storm were up to the challenge and battled with Barrie all game long. We had a 2-1 Lead late in the game when Barrie scored with about 1:45 left in the game, with Erie goaltender getting injured on the play, we made a goalie change and it looked like we would be headed to overtime to decide who went onto the finals. That would not be necessary...It only took about a 30 seconds for us to head down to the Barrie end and get a puck though to the net that was tipped in over the Colts goaltender and sent us onto the Final after tacking on an empy netter for good measure and a 4-2 final. It was now time for a Rematch with the Southpoint Capitals in a winner take all 1 Game Final. The team was eager to play the Capitals as we had obviously not given them our best effort on Friday Night and wanted to be sure that they knew we were not going to roll over without putting up a fight. This game was really no contest from the start!! Erie jumped out to an early lead and never looked back... The Capitals got there first scoring chance of the game about 5 minutes into the second period, and the game was at a 5-0 lead at the end of 2 periods. Our Team went onto a 6-0 Victory and Hoisted the Trophy!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE PLAYERS, COACHES and PARENTS.... Good Luck in the Silver Stick coming up in early December in Midland....
