Coming off a 4-0 tournament championship, the Minor Atom boys hosted the Essex Ravens on Saturday. With a shorter bench than usual, the Storm skated hard for three periods but fell 4-2 to a hungry Ravens team. On Sunday, our boys were thrilled to spend the day at Joe Louis Arena. Showing up just after lunch, all players were escorted like pros to their dressing room where they would dress for a full exhibition game versus Tecumseh Eagles.
Dressed and ready, the boys ran down the tunnel onto the ice to be greeted by parents, friends and family in the stands. First period saw an early Tecumseh goal, but didn't keep Erie down as they scored shortly after on a fantastic 2 on 1!!! NHL quality goal tending, and precise offense/defense play resulted in holding the Eagles to a 1-1 tie by the end of the game. After the game, players and family made their way to Hockeytown Cafe for a great pizza party with the Tecumseh team before returning to the Joe to watch the Red Wings take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. All the boys had fun at the game as Tampa beat the Wings 3-0. Fantastic opportunity for all players involved as it will definitely be one they remember.
