Another exciting weekend of hockey for AE fans....
Novice AE took on the Lasalle Sabres on Saturday night in a nail biting game that kept the Storm working until the final buzzer rang.
The Sabres came out strong with a taste for a win, and made our kids work hard through all three periods.
Ariana played an awesome game in net, only letting in a single goal in the beginning of the third period. Despite numerous shots to the Sabres net from a strong Storm offense, we were unable to light the lamp and find the back of the Lasalle net. The clock was ticking down and it looked like the Storm were going to have their first loss in league play since October 27th.
In a last attempt to tie the game, the coaches pulled Ariana with less than a minute to go in the third period. With 6 Storm players ready for the attack the kids rallied together and with an amazing pass from Ben and a great display of teamwork from all, Connor scored the tying goal with only 2.5 seconds left in the game!! All kids are to be commended for their hard work and dedication. This game was a true lesson in not giving up and continuing to play hard until the final buzzer rings. GREAT TEAMWORK KIDS!!!
Sunday we travelled to Belle River to take on the AE1 team. Confident from their amazing comeback the day before, the kids skated hard and worked together to secure another Storm victory, winning 4-1 over the Canadiens.
Carson was a bullet; showcasing both his speed and shot accuracy, netting the first two Storm goals. Ty added to the lead with a hard shot that sailed past the Habs netminder. Connor followed with a goal of his own shortly after. Reyth had a fantastic game, skating fast and working hard in the corners, being rewarded with 2 assists in the game.
Great weekend of hockey, kids!!
Next weekend we will be looking to bring the Tecumseh Eagles their first loss.
Come out to Tecumseh arena on Sunday at 4:30 and cheer us on!!
