THREE GOALS IN LESS THAN ONE MINUTE!!!
Novice AE once again stripped a title from an undefeated team on Sunday December 8.

We travelled to Tecumseh to battle the top rated in our division Tecumseh Eagles, who, prior to this game, had a record of 12-0-3.

AE fans were treated to seeing the team play one of their best games of the season, crushing the Eagles in a decisive 4-0 win.

The first two periods saw a lot of back and forth action, with both teams battling hard to score the first goal. Defense was strong on both teams, resulting in no score at the beginning of the third.

Storm dominated the final period, creating lots of opportunities in front of the Eagles net and passing the puck to ready and waiting wingers. Defense remained strong holding the blue line, and protecting Ariana only allowing a few shots to get through to her. AE fans cheered when with less than 6 minutes remaining in the game, Ashton sailed one past the Eagles goalie, finally putting us on the board.

What happened next was worthy of the highlight reel.  With power forwards Ashton, Nevan and Connor leading the attack,  the Storm started a storm of their own, shocking the Eagles with three more goals in less than one minute!!! First it was Connor's turn, receiving a perfect pass from Nevan and finding the back of the Tecumseh net.  Next it was Nevan’s turn.  With Ashton returning the favour of a perfectly timed pass, Nevan skated the puck in and “roofed” it past the Eagles netminder.  Stunned Tecumseh  fans watched on as Ashton once again found the back of the net on an unassisted breakaway goal that sealed the shut out game and first defeat for the Eagles team this season.

Great teamwork and amazing hustle, kids!

On December 15 we took on the Belle River Canadiens.  Continuing on our winning streak, we won the contest 4-2.  It was all Ben in the second period, with the power forward netting another "hattie" for the Storm, putting us at 3-1 at the end of the second.  An unassisted goal from Ty in the third added to the scoreboard, ensuring a victory over the Habs.

We travelled to Wallaceburg on Friday, December 20.  With a score of 2-1 Storm at the end of the second period, the kids came back with renewed energy in the third, scoring a total of 7 more goals.  Special mention to Troy who had a fantastic game in his new helmet, scoring 2 goals and netting 2 assists.  Also to Brock, who scored his first goal of the season.  Good work, guys!

Our winning streak came to an end on Sunday, December 22 when we travelled to Adie Knox arena to battle the Windsor Jr. Spitfires. Unable to get it past the Windsor goalie, our kids struggled to light the lamp and put one on the board.  Losing our first game in league play since the end of October, the Storm went down fighting in a 3-1 loss to the Jr. Spits.  The kids played hard and worked together, but it wasn't enough to win the contest.

We take a few days off to enjoy the Christmas holidays before leaving for a tournament at Hespeler on Dec 27.

On behalf of the Novice AE team, we would like to wish our friends and family a happy, healthy and Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
