STORM NOVICE AE'S CLOSE TO CHAMPIONSHIP
The Erie North Shore Storm Novice AE team is one win away from an OMHA Championship after back to back victories this past weekend.

The series opened on Friday, March 21st in Harrow with a great crowd on hand to watch the Novice AE Storm take on the Belle River Canadiens. Both teams were quite tentative early on, shaking off the rust from the march break. The Storm struck first to open the scoring with Ben rushing up the ice and firing a puck over the glove of the Canadiens goalie. However, the Canadiens made their way back into the game with two straight goals to take a one goal lead. Ty evened up the score with a seeing eye shot from the point that found its way through the five hole. There were several scoring chances at both ends, including one puck that sat on the Storm goal line for what seemed like an eternity. Yet again, the Storm netminder,  Ariana, would save the day by safely covering up the loose puck. Although the Erie North Shore squad was badly outshot in the game, they were opportunistic as Troy grabbed a loose puck from behind the net and stuffed it in the open side with three minutes remaining to take the lead. The kids held on for a 3-2 victory to take the opening game.

The series then moved to Belle River on Saturday afternoon. A better effort was put forth both offensively and defensively from the Storm group in this game, with the shots almost even in this one. Belle River got on the board early in this game, but as usual, the Novice AE Storm showed their resolve to fight back by scoring three straight goals thanks to Troy, Nevan and Ty. Although the Canadiens would put one in part way through the third period, the Storm held on for a second 3-2 victory, to take a commanding lead in the six point series.

Game three is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30 pm at the Kingsville Recreation Centre. Please come out to support the team in their attempt to win an OMHA Championship.
