10/04/13 – Storm vs. Belle River Canadiens AA

Friday October 4 the Storm hosted the Belle River Canadiens AA team at Harrow Arena. The first period saw the Storm playing strong defensively but only generating one shot on net, with goalie Connor Axford facing ten shots. Halfway through the period Belle River got lucky and managed to slip one in the net getting on the board first. In the second period Austin Marr answered that goal with one of his own, assisted by Franco Shaften. Unfortunately Belle River got lucky again thirty seconds later as they pushed a loose puck in the net behind Connor. They didn’t hold onto the lead for long as Owen Stannard popped the puck in the net five minutes before the period buzzer with help from Ryan Mucha and Ethan Litster. The Storm played much stronger offensively during this period outshooting their opponent 12-7. With the score tied the Belle River team showed their frustration by drawing 2 penalties in the second, and then 2 more in the third. The Storm played smart avoiding any penalties throughout the entire game and remaining at full strength. In the third Belle River continued to play aggressively but the Storm stood up to them while avoiding any retaliation penalties. The Storm tried hard to keep the puck out of their net but Belle River’s luck had not worn off and they slipped one more goal in the net breaking the tie and winning the game. The Storm played a great game against a AA team and came very close to beating them! The shots on net were 21-18 in Belle Rivers favor with a final score of 3-2. Fantastic job out there Peewee Majors!!
