Storm Gain First Victory of Season
The Erie North Shore Novice Storm grabbed their first win of the season on Sep 26th against Essex.

Although they peppered the Essex goalie with  27 shots, the Storm would only put a couple in the net, winning 2-1. After an off season trade with the Essex Ravens, the newly acquired Ava Merritt started the scoring, poking in a rebound against her old team, assisted by Ben Buchner and Nevan Branco. After the Ravens tied the game quickly, it was all Erie North Shore. Finally, with eight minutes left in the game, Reyth Smith fired one five-hole from the slot with help  from Ava Merritt and Carson Stomp.  The Storm were all fired up after their first win and carried that enthusiasm into their next game in Amherstburg on Saturday afternoon. For the second game in a row, the Storm came out firing, sending many shots towards the opponents net. However, the Stars goalie would stand tall and the second period would close with the scoreboard showing a scoreless tie. As the Storm pressed for goals, the home team would take advantage of loose pucks, scoring three goals on either breakaways and odd man rushes. Although the Erie North Shore squad would grossly outplay Amherstburg, they would fall 3-0. Next up, a trip to Windsor on Sunday to face the Jr. Spitfires. Ben Buchner took the puck off the opening face off and skated around the Windsor defensemen and fired on home just nine seconds into the game. Ben would also score with nine seconds left in the game, assisted by Noah Dufour and Brock Bezaire. Unfortunately, it was all Jr. Spits in between, with the Storm losing this one 8-2. It  was nice to get the first win under their belts and a good effort against the Stars as well. The offence needs to improve for more success.
