Storm Novice Major Finalists in Dorchester
The Erie North Shore Storm Novice Major team travelled to Dorchester this past weekend to participate in their second tournament of the season.

The first game on Friday afternoon was against the Petrolia Oilers. Both teams had difficulty maintaining any flow as there 10 penalties called in the first two periods. Although, it was a very close game from beginning to end with great goaltending at both ends of the ice. After many scoring chances from several different Storm players, Elijah Pezzotti created a turnover at his own blue line and out raced two Petrolia defencemen on his way to making a great move on the netminder and firing home what would be the winner in a 1-0 victory. Saturday morning, the Storm would face the Stratford Warriors. The Erie North Shore team were firing on all cylinders in this game, scoring four goals in the first, on their way to a 12-0 win. Storm goalie Gannon Hunter earned his second consecutive shutout in this one. Nevan Branco and Carson Stomp led the way, both firing hat tricks. Ben Buchner pumped two to go along with his three assists. Also scoring were Sage Batke, Elijah, Ashton Sim and Matteo Vilardi with assists going to Neil Adams, Noah Dufour, Ava Merritt, Ashton, Nevan, Carson and Elijah. Next up on Saturday afternoon would be the hosts, the Dorchester Dragons. The Storm put up a good effort, only being down 2-0 after two periods, while killing off several penalties. However, the Dragons would pull away in the third, sending Erie North Shore to their first loss in the tournament by a 6-0 score. However, their first two victories would be good enough for first place in their pool, setting up a semi-final matchup on Sunday morning against the West London Hawks.  There was no scoring in the first period, as both teams played well defensively. Finally, half way through the period Nevan on a pass from Noah, would put the Storm on the board. Elijah followed that goal up with one of his own, setup by Brock Bezaire and Matteo. The Storm pressed again, but had a goal disallowed, giving the Hawks some life, as they scored two quick goals near the end of the second period to tie the game at two. Early in the third, Sage would hit Ben B up the middle and he would make no mistake, burying the go ahead goal. After many big saves by Gannon, Noah banged in a rebound on a great point shot from Quinn Brennan to take a 4-2 lead. The Hawks pressed back, but then Matteo would fire two goals in 11 seconds, the first one assisted by Brock. West London would squeak in one more before the buzzer, however, the Storm were on their way to the championship game against Dorchester, after a big 6-3 win. The Erie North Shore crew would have to step it up to beat the Dragons. The hosts scored two in the middle of the first, but the Storm fought back and had several chances in the middle period, but just could not put one past the Dorchester goalie. Although the Dragons defeated the Storm 5-0, the coaches, parents and of course the cheer squad, were all very proud of the effort from the team. Congratulations to the Storm Novice Majors for being finalist in the 45th Dave Clarke Memorial Tournament.
