OMHA Playdown - Round 1 vs St. Thomas
The ENS Minor Atom Storm took to the home ice on Friday January 23rd to face the St Thomas Stars in the second round of OMHA playdowns.

Although they had many chances, the St Thomas net minder held the Storm scoreless through the first two periods.  Finally in the third, Cale M picked up his own rebound to put the Storm up 1-0.  It would be enough as Ari Q made 3 notable saves in the waning minutes of action to earn her shutout.   Defensive players  (Owen, Owen, Ty, Nicks and Matteo) are to be congratulated for clearing ominous pucks from the crease.

In the 2nd game St Thomas jumped out to an early 1-0 in the first couple minutes.  The Storm seemed flat and couldn’t find their stride throughout the beginning of the contest.  The 2nd period was a much better period for the Storm but the scoring chances were hard to come by.  As the game went on the Storm found themselves pressing more and more but getting some great scoring opportunities.  Going deep into the 3rd period the Storm had their back against the wall as time kept ticking away until the 4 minute mark when Nate M pounced on a bounce in front of the net after a hard point shot from Ty H to even the score 1-1.  Ty M also gained an assist after making a nice pass to the point to start the play.   The way the game was going it felt like it may go into that dreaded ‘overtime’ period but with 2 minutes to go the Storm had a perfect breakout out of their zone started by Owen Bu and AJ D. Mike H than caught the puck deep in the St Thomas zone firing it across where he connected with Cale M who was driving hard to the net to put the Storm up 2-1.
