The Bantam Minors continue with their winning ways against the AA teams!

09/27/2014 - Storm vs. Windsor Jr. Spitfires AA

Saturday night the Bantam Minors travelled to Adie Knox Arena to take on the Windsor Jr. Spitfires AA team for the third time this season. The team was very determined to keep their winning streak going while the Windsor team was just as determined to end it. With netminder Connor Axford in position the team hit the ice ready to take on their rival. Both teams played a very physical game as they fought for the puck and just as the period was coming to an end the Storm struck first when Declan Handley shot the puck past the goalie off a pass from Kristian Pelling. In the second the play intensified as Windsor managed to tie the score with their one and only goal of the game. In the third both teams became more aggressive resulting in many penalties and power play opportunities and finally at the 4 minute mark the Storm broke the tie when Franco Shaften popped the game winner in the net with help from Trent Pickle and Daniel Price! The Windsor team was not at all happy with another loss and caused some after buzzer shenanigans but the Storm players kept their heads and celebrated another great victory for the team! Goalie Connor Axford did a fantastic job defending the net against a team determined to score on him! Great work out there Storm! Final score: Storm 2 – Windsor 1

09/28/2014 - Storm vs. LaSalle Sabres AA

Sunday evening the Bantam Minors were hosts to the LaSalle Sabres AA team. The Storm hasn’t had a very successful history playing against this team and were very eager to change that. Goalie Nate Jacobs took his place in net and the team prepared for battle! The Bantam Minors very quickly showed the Sabres they were not intimidated by them, while the Sabres appeared to underestimate the power of the Storm! In the first period the Bantam Minors hit the ice determined to put up a strong front against this team, playing their hardest to get possession of the puck and keep the Sabres out of their zone. All the hard work paid off at the halfway point when Austin Marr shot one past the goalie off a pass from Daniel Price. This energized the Storm even more as they fought to hang onto the lead into the second period. Unfortunately LaSalle managed to squeak one past Nate and the period ended in a tie. In the third the Storm came out flying when Hunter Dufour popped the puck in the net off a pass from Rebecca Misiasz, regaining the lead for the team, and then a few minutes later Ryan Mucha got an unassisted insurance goal. With four minutes on the clock LaSalle pulled their goalie for the extra player and the Storm took full advantage of the empty net when Colten Pavao shot the puck across the ice catching the corner of the net, assisted by Austin Marr and Kristian Pelling. In the last minute of the game with LaSalle on the power play the Sabres managed to get one more past Nate but three seconds later Colten answered that with his second of the game with help from Kristian Pelling, giving the Storm a big win of 5-2! Storm goalie Nate Jacobs had his work cut out for him and practically stood on his head as he fought off the LaSalle shots! A very good effort and a huge accomplishment by the entire team as they earned their 4th win out of 5 games all against AA teams! Great job Storm!
