A Blast In ColumBUS
The Major Bantam Erie Storm travelled to Columbus Ohio for a weekend tournament as part of the Buckeye Classic Tournament Series with Its Hockey Time Productions. The tournament netted some great results , but, was more about Fun and Team building.

The weekend started off with a 1-1 tie to a very good team from Wheatfield New York. Saturday morning saw the boys put together a solid effort and were able to beat a Young but speedy team from Pittsburgh by a score of 6-0. The team then descended on "Quaker Steak and Lube" for a fun afternoon of Lunch and just hanging out with the BOYS !!! ... IT almost proved to be  mistake as we were very Sluggish and slow to start our 5 pm Game vs. Amherst N.Y. and were trailing through out the game until we scored 2 goals in the final 1:50 to escape with a 4-3 Victory... perhaps the team had thoughts of the evening events on there mind leading to the slow start .....

Following that victory the Team, loaded onto a BUS and headed downtown to watch The Columbus Blue Jackets take on the New York Rangers in the Home Opener for the jackets and hometown Defenseman Dalton Prout. Dalton was a plus 3 and had an assist as the boys enjoyed the game with Great Seats and were given Columbus Ball caps and T Shirts for all 50 of us that attended....

Sunday AM it was back to business as we had an early morning game vs. local Rival Riverside Rangers in the Semi Finals... we were the one seed and riverside the four seed .... and that is how the game went as we went onto a 4 goal victory earning Ben Simonis his Second Shut out of the weekend... Riverside played very Physical and took advantage of a weak 2 man ref system and we unfortunately lost Patrick Hoy for the reminder of the tournament to a wrist injury .

The Championship Game did not go our way from the beginning as we were called for several boarding and checks to the back that carry both a 2 and a 10 minute call so we played much of the game short handed and almost all of it short benched as the penalties and injuries were to much to overcome and we dropped the game by a 5-2 score ...

Overall , I think the weekend was  a successful one and we will look forward to going into this weekend (Oct 17-19) in St Thomas as an opportunity to face some of the best A teams in Southern Ontario and use it as a measuring stick for the reminder of the season.... But first we will take on Riverside Friday Night in a rematch of this past weekends Semi Finals

    GREAT JOB STORM !!!
