Stars Slip By Storm
In a game befitting a series finale, the Erie North Shore Storm Atom AE team played their hearts out, but were eliminated from playdown competition last night.

In a hard fought series that took all six games to decide, the Storm fell just short of upsetting the number one seed Amherstburg Stars, but proved to everyone just how far they've come in a few short months.

Amherstburg had the territory advantage in the first period, but good defensive work and quality goaltending had the teams even at 0-0 after one. The Storm took the lead in the second period on a powerplay when Matt took the puck across the blue line and fired a bullet from the top of the circle beating the goalie glove side. The teams continued the tight play for the rest of the period and the score remained 1-0 after two periods. Amherstburg came out strong in the third period and evened the score in the first few minutes. Again tight forechecking ensued until an errand clearing pass up the middle was picked off and fired home by Amherstburg giving them a 2-1 lead with 8 minutes to go. Despite giving it their all, Amhertsburg thwarted all of Eries offensive zone attempts and then scored a goal in the final minute to put the game away. Final Score Amherstburg 3 - Storm 1.
A great effort by the whole team that made the coaching staff as well as the parents, I'm sure, proud.
Way to go Storm!!
