Storm Start New Year, Finish Regular Season On High Note
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season the Atom A.E Storm had nothing left to prove. With first place locked up in their Bluewater league division and 3 tournament championships under their belt, they were well entitled to the Holiday vacations that many of them took.
However just because a few regulars were away, that doesn't mean the rest of the Team was going to roll over and play dead.....

Luckily, being a county team means the farm is never too far away. Dein S. and Conner C. got the call and filled in admirably as the Storm took both games on the final regular season weekend and now await their playdown schedule.

Tecumseh Shoreline Eagles vs. Storm - Saturday January 2/2016 - Harrow
The Coaches were a little nervous about this one as the Team was down 5 regulars and facing the seasons most improved team. Fears were subsided early in the game when Teagan jammed home a rebound from Wyatt's point shot in the first minute of play. The Storm extended their lead in the second period when Ellie moved the puck to Wyatt who hit Brady on a breakaway pass. Brady broke down the left side, deked right and slid it under the goalie for a 2-0 lead. Moose made it 3-0 early in the third, banging home a second rebound from Wyatt's original shot.
Tecumseh got a late goal to spoil Tommy's shutout bid. Kudos to Wyatt on a 3 point game.
Final score: Storm 3 - Tecumseh 1

Storm vs Kent Cobras - Sunday January 3/2016 - Tilbury
The last game of the regular season saw the Storm turn in one of their more dominant showings of the year led by the 3 Queens, each of whom lit the lamp.
Ian opened the scoring half way through the first, picking up a loose puck in the high slot, moving in and firing a wrist shot, beating the goalie low glove side. Ellie made it 2-0 in the second period when she rifled a shot from the top of the circle. Keegan got the first of his 2 goals late in the second and the Storm took a 3-0 lead into the third.
Keegan scored again early in the third as the Storm's offensive zone pressure was taking its toll on the home team. Mikayla made it 5-0 with her first goal of 2016, when she banged in a loose puck in front of the net. Not to be outdone, Teagan made it a trifecta for the Storm ladies when she finished off the Storm scoring with 5 minutes left in the game.
Kent got a late goal to ruin Colin's perfect night.
Final score: Storm 6 - Kent 1

A great ending to a great regular season! Let's keep it rolling into playdowns !!

Go Storm Go !!
