Storm vs Jr. Spitfires - Post Game Report - Nov 19 2022
The U9 Erie Storm team visited the Capri Pizzeria Rink for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon. This was an exhibition game and the first contest with the Jr. Spitfires U9 Rep team. Saturday was the first game the players of the U9 storm had played in full ice action.
The Storm took the ice in their dark blue away jerseys, and from the drop of the puck in the first period were ready for an exciting game!
The Jr. Spitfires came out shooting, and the Storm held on through the first period adjusting to the speed and shooting of the opposition. The goaltending from the storm was stellar, and made some amazing saves, keeping the boys in the game.
After the Jr. Spitfires had scored a few goals, the Storms offence came alive when they broke loose from Windsor's defense and scored!
Through the second period, the Storms defense began to adapt to Windsor's speed and pressure. The defense partners all played strong games working hard in the corners and along the boards.
The Storm continued to press with great effort throughout the remainder of game. The team hit a post, had several breakaways and finally capitalized on a wrap around goal for their second of the game.
All in all it was a great experience for the team. Some good lessons learned, leaving the rink hungry for a re-match later in the season.
