Seesaw Battle with ENS-White Leads to a Win for the Blue Bombers
Without a doubt this was the most exciting game of the year. It had more highs and lows than a thermometer. Unfortunately both Maya and Maiya were missing for this game, meaning the team was without two players the team counts on to mix it up and frustrate the other team. The team also needed to add Jackson as a goalie and Nate (hardest working forward from last game) had to shift to defense as a fill in for Maya. ENS-White came out flying and dominated the first two periods of the game. Jackson was under siege making stop after stop, but despite this and the Blue Bombers best effort to muck it up defensively, ENS-White went out to a 3-0 lead.

As is usual for the Blue Bombers, they started to claw back into the game with two quick goals at the end of the second period by Grayson, who continues to roll offensively showing off his great skating and accurate shot. Assisting on his first goal was Blake who earned his first career point and played a very strong game on defense, earning the hardest worker lunch box. Grayson’s second goal was assisted by Logan who played a well rounded game in both ends of the rink. At the start of the third period, the Blue Bombers tied the game after a nice effort by Thomas to get the puck to the net led to Nathan using his size to bang in a rebound. Midway through the third period, Grayson completed his hat trick on a nice play started by Matthew who dug the puck out and got it to the speedy centreman. This was Matthew’s first career assist and it put the team ahead 4-3. Nathan and Thomas hooked up again to make it 5-3 on a nice hard shot by Thomas. Shortly after that, Owen who has improved by leaps and bounds over the last few weeks, drew a penalty after being hauled down on a breakaway. The coaching staff lobbied for a penalty shot, but to no avail. Probably the nicest play of the game was the goal by birthday boy Jaxon who received a great pass from Nate and went in on a break dangling the whole way to make it 6-3. The six goal comeback all started in the Bombers end with Calvin and Jagger playing smart, efficient defense moving the puck quickly up the boards out of danger. Full credit to ENS-White, they pushed back in the last minute scoring with 57 and 8 seconds left to make it 6-5, but that was as close as they got in the end.
