Weekend Review
Week-end Review- Erie North Shore Minor Atom Hockey Team Dec 10 & 11, 2011 Saturday December 10th the Erie North Shore Minor Atom Hockey Team sponsored by South Shore Dental played an exhibition game at the Windsor Family Credit Union Centre against the St Thomas Stars.

At 4:00pm the game began with Matthew Branch in net for the Storm. The Stars came out hard in the first scoring two goals. The Storm answered with an unassisted goal by Shannon Olsen. The second period continued the Star’s scoring. Erie again replied when Alex Riddiford shoveled in a puck from the edge of the crease after being set up by Cole Dumouchelle and Caden Gomes. Midway through the second period Jackson Ford took over in net. The third period resulted in another Stars goal. The Storm pulled the goalie in the dying seconds of the game but they were unable to score. Although the new forward line combinations showed much grit and determination and the defense played a strong game they were unable to overcome the pressure of the Stars and the results were 4-2 for the St Thomas Stars. The shots on net were 21-13 for the Storm.

Immediately after the game an exhibition shoot-out took place. Jackson Ford and Matthew Branch shared the duties in net for the Storm stopping 10 of 15 St Thomas shots. The Storm were successful on 6 of 14 shots.

After the game both teams enjoyed pizza and wings before watching the Windsor Spitfires go on to win 6-5 in overtime against the Erie Otters.

On Sunday Dec 11th the Storm were back at the WFCU Centre this time to face the Riverside Rangers. The game began at 5:30pm with Jackson Ford in net. Many rushes took place and lots of scoring chances occurred but both goalies shut down the offence in the first. The goaltending duel and intense play continued into the second period until 14:30 when Caden Gomes broke into the Rangers end during a penalty kill and scored a shorthanded goal assisted by Kaden Brennan and Mackinnon Wollner. Towards the end of the second period the Rangers answered with a goal. The spirited play continued into the third period but the Storm were unable to beat the Rangers goalie and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
