Grayson and Nate lead the way as the Blue Bombers go to 3-0
The Blue Bombers second road game of the year pitted them against a strong Yellow team from Essex.
The Blue Bombers had Nathan between the pipes for the first time this year after impressing the coaching staff with a good performance in practice the previous night. The game started slowly for the Blue Bombers going behind early on a sneaky goal that inched across the line. As is normal for this team, they battled back scoring four straight goals led by a natural hat trick for Grayson. Grayson also set Logan off with a nice pass that led to a beautiful low shot for a goal. Grayson was dominant playing a complete 200-foot game and was driving the play all day. Nathan, playing net for the first time in a full ice game, played a strong game with a nice kick save and glove save before Essex was able to put a few rebounds passed him to make the game close at 4-3. The Bombers didn’t let the comeback phase them and they rose to the occasion. Jaxon started to have some nice rushes slicing through the Essex players showing off some silky mitts and Nate, who was the hardest worker for the game, had several nice plays and a key backcheck to limit Essex getting the tying goal. Jagger and Blake played some stout, aggressive defense and moved the puck safely up the boards for the forwards. Near the end of the game, Owen almost potted the first of his career, but it was Thomas who added an insurance goal to provide some comfort to the Blue Bombers coaching staff. Maiya, Matthew and Maya all contributed to the effort breaking up many plays leading to nothing but frustration for Essex. The game ended in classic Blue Bomber fashion with Essex on a breakaway and Calvin erasing a 30ft head start to check the player with Nathan shutting the door with a pad save to end it.
