The Harrow Novice Blue battled throughout the holiday week and were rewarded with a championship in the 2018 Hockey for Hospice tournament.
Returning to the ice after the excitement of Christmas turkey and presents from Santa, the team got off to a slow start with a 2-2 tie against the Riverside Red Rangers. The team found a higher gear for the rest of the round robin play and defeated the Tecumseh Hurricanes 14-1 and then the Windsor Black Diamonds 5-0. In the semi-final match the team faced the LaSalle Red and came away with a tough 3-0 victory. This set up a rematch against the LaSalle Destroyers, who just two weeks ago defeated Harrow in the championship game of the Bob Probert Novice tournament. This time around Harrow burst out to an early three goal lead and then held on against a tenacious LaSalle team for a 3-1 triumph in the championship. In addition to winning on the ice, the players also raised $3,405 for the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, which was the highest total among the 15 Novice teams in the tournament.
Congratulations to Harrow Novice Blue!
