Shared Boundary Initiative (SBI) Update
Submitted By Garnet Little on Thursday, April 11, 2019
Dear Parents:

As many of you are aware we have been actively working on a special arrangement referred to as the Shared Border Initiative (SBI) between the Essex MHA, the Erie North Shore MHA and the SouthPoint MHA. This initiative is intended to deal with a number of issues plaguing the longevity of hockey associations in the smaller communities some of which include but are not limited to rising costs and reduced registration numbers. The intent of our “pilot” agreement is to ensure that our local families and local players have competitive hockey alternatives available to them locally within our (SBI) communities.

As a result, we will be offering a full allotment of teams within our SBI for all age groups in both
Rep and AE. We have had many examples of amalgamated teams over the last few years which
have been very successful.

Although there may be some player movement throughout the tryout process each
organization has committed to working with our neighbouring associations to clearly define
where each team will be playing for the season.

For the 2019/2020 season, Erie North Shore Minor Hockey will host the following ‘A’ teams:

2011 - Novice, as per Hockey Canada guidelines.
2010 - Atom Minor
2009 - Atom Major
2008 - Peewee Minor
2007 - Peewee Major
2006 - Bantam Minor
2005 - Bantam Major
2002/03 - Midget Major
Juvenile

All players who attend all tryouts and are released within their age group are eligible to attend
the combined AE teams within our shared borders.
Players born in 2004 who wish to play rep hockey must attend all Southpoint minor tryouts.
Please follow the Southpoint Minor Hockey Website for tryout details.
Midget Minor (2004) and Midget Majors (2002/2003) are eligible to receive ATM cards, if
released.

***NOTE! ALL PLAYERS MUST REGISTER IN ERIE NORTH SHORE MINOR HOCKEY
AND PAY TRYOUT FEES TO ENS BY MAY 10TH IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO
ATTEND TRYOUTS. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!***
