Silverstick Tournament Review
Game 1 - Storm vs Dundas The boys started off with a bit of jet leg in the first. The chances were fairly even between the two teams, but with some hard work Shannon Olson potted the first goal with a nice assist going to Ethan Robinson, the back checking of Caden Gomes and Mckinnon Woolner kept Dundas off the sheet.

In the second period a few defensive breakdowns and Dundas had us hemmed in our own end Jackson Ford came up with some timely saves to keep them off the scoreboard.
The third saw the Storm come out with a new hunger. Even while short handed Ethan Robinson had a great hustle and banged one home, with assist to Josh Parks. The Storm kept it coming with Heath McKee and Robinson netting the next two, assisted by Brendan Jenner and Olson The defensive core of Josh Parks, Evan Fields, Hayden Carrier, Luca Quennevillle and Brendan Jenner had a stellar performance back on the point. With Jackson Ford getting his first shutout of the year. Game 2 - Storm vs North London
North London came out of the gate fast and didn’t stop. Moving the puck all around the ice, the boys were scrambling everywhere. Then came the penalties. Some bad bounces did the boys in on this one. The lone goal going to Olson on a sharp angle shot with assist to Gomes. Final 4-1 North London
Game 3 -Storm vs Woodstock
The game started with Woodstock scoring, but that didn’t rattle the boys. They came right back with a crazy bounce of their own, off the stick of Woolner. Mckee kept it rolling with another.

Semi-Finals
Storm vs Orillia
The boys were rested for this one with Coach Quenneville instituting a 9 o’clock curfew with no mini sticks. Good call Coach, it payed off, big time! The storm came out ready to play. ‘THERE’S A STORM A COMIN’!!! " Orillia didn’t get the weather warning.
With all cylinders firing, and guns blazing, the boys forecheck fiercely resulting in some nifty passing from Jenner and Kaden Brennan and a beauty goal from Olson. Storms tenacity on the puck and driving the net come with another goal this time by Mckee, Woolner and Bradfield with the helper. Orillia’s big line was shut down. Once again Ford gave us a dancing performance between the pipes. He brought both Thunder and Lightning to the ice, with acrobatics and flashy glove saves to earn him his second shutout of the tournament. Final score 2-zip. The Storm is off to the 2011 Silver Stick Finals against the North London Nationals.

Storm vs North London
A totally different team appeared before London..Not the same team they saw the day before, these boys came to play. The Storm had it going on passing skating, forechecking, back checking blocking shots they were cycling and that was just the first period!
In second the boys didn’t let up one bit. Cole Dumouchelle hustled for a loose puck with a London defender a collision occurred but not before Dumouchelle chipped it aside for Robinson to swoop in a for the kill and net one for the Storm. Not long after the National tied it up. She was a tightttttttt! Game now! The boys didn’t give up and with a scrum in front Alex Riddiford shoveled a pass to boom boom Jenner who made no mistake and buried it top shelf from the point.2-1 Storm. With the Nationals goalie pulled and time running out the unthinkable happened were going to O.T.
It happened so quick. Erie North Shore Minor Atoms won Silver at the Woodstock Silver Stick Tournament. With the victory so close, the team took the loss pretty hard. Overtime only lasted one minute. North London Nationals won the game 3-2 O.T.
Two days. Five games. Thirteen goals. Two shut-outs. One Coach. Four staff. Fifteen very tired nine year-olds. Thirty five very proud parents. Even though the team only saw a loss at first, slowly it has dawned on them just how cool it is that they have earned a Silver Medal in the 2011 Silver Stick Tournament. That is nothing to be disappointed about! These kids have come together so well, and respect each other in a way that is well beyond their years. Thank you to the team, thank you to the coaches, thank you to the trainers.
Ok boys, what’s next? We see what you can do, we know what you are capable of.....LETS GO STORM
