Last week was an eventful one for the Novice AE team.
Thursday night we took on the Essex Ravens in a fun team-building event at the WFCU centre. The kids played their hearts out on the “big ice” and beat Essex in a whopping 7-1 victory. Many stars are emerging on the team, however, it was the evidence of team play that really took centre stage. After the game, we (and members of the Essex Novice AE team) all went to a community room with parents, grandparents, and friends for a pizza party before heading back to the arena to cheer on the Spitfires as they took on the Belleville Bulls.
Saturday saw us battle the Wallaceburg Lakers where we once again displayed phenomenal teamwork and proved what we could do when we all work together. The Storm dominated the game. Strong offensive play and a solid defense was too much for the Lakers, and we took the win in a decisive 9-2 score.
Sunday we met the Kent Cobras. Last time we battled this team, it resulted in a 1-1 tie, and the Cobras were out for the win. Forgetting what we had learned in the last two games, we were easy prey for the Chatham based team. The kids worked hard, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Cobras. Final score was 5-2 Kent.
