On Saturday September 19, the Atom Minor Storm
took on the Kent Cobra AA team.
Both teams came out of the gates flying but it wasn't until four minutes left in the first when Reyth Smith drove down the left side shooting top shelf, beating the Cobras goalie to give the Storm the lead after one period. With the second period full of back and forth action the Cobras were the only squad to score, tying the game after 20 minutes . After a quick pep talk from the coaches, the Storm came out guns a blazing in the third. Goals from Smith and Elijah Pezzotti early in the third gave the Storm an early third period lead. But the Cobras responded, netting two goals of their own. With 6 minutes left in the third period, Ben Buchner was fouled from behind on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot. Buchner did not disappoint, scoring on a nice deke. The pumped up Storm team continued to fill the Cobras net with a scoring frenzy, adding four more goals before the end of the game from Buchner, Smith and Ashton Sim, to give the Storm a 8-3 victory over the Cobras. Assists in the game go out to Tommy Coughlin, Buchner , Sim and Hayden Nurse. Special shout out to Reyth Smith (Player of the game) and Ben Buchner for their great play and for both getting their first hatties of the season. Great job boys!!!!!
