Amherstburg Game
Solid goaltending and good positional play leads to Select 7's first win of the year!
After an opening game tie, the Select 7 came out hungry for their first win of the year. After giving up the first goal to Amherstburg at the 2:23 mark they were down 1-0 going into the 2nd period. At the 6:20 mark of the 2nd period, Cole K tied the game on an unassisted shot from the slot, knotting the game at 1 all.
Going into the 3rd period with the score tied, Amherstburg dug the puck out of the corner for a shot from the side of the net to go ahead 2-1. Two minutes later, AJ and Nate M assisted on a goal by Michael H from the bottom of the slot, again tying the game at 2 a piece.
With time winding down in the third period, our netminder, Tommy M was able to keep the biscuit out of the net on multiple occasions including a solid save on an Amherstburg breakaway. Finally, at the 2:16 mark of the 3rd period Nico S was able to dig the puck out of a scrum at the side of the net and find Cole K in the hash marks. Picking the bottom stick side, Cole K was able to bury the game winner giving the Select 7 their first win of the season.
