Erie North Shore Storm Peewee Minors - 03/16/13 – 03/17/13 Play-offs
Peewee Minors have another very successful play-off weekend scoring 14 goals in 2 games!
Saturday March 16 the Storm travelled to Amherstburg to take on the Stars. With the team all rested up after last weekend’s busy four game schedule the players hit the ice ready to score some goals! With Goalie Scotti Beneteau between the pipes, the teams fought hard for the puck until the three minute mark when Kristian Pelling popped the puck in the net off a pass from Michael Connelly. In the last minute of period play Amherstburg answered the goal and tied the score. The second period belonged to the Storm as they added three more goals to their tally. Daniel Price scored first at the seven minute mark assisted by Ethan Litster and Owen Stannard. Two minutes later Kristian scored his second of the game off a pass from Rebecca Misiasz. Three minutes later Kristian earned the hat trick with goal number three and the game winner with help from KayCyn Hernandez and Michael. In the third Amherstburg attempted a comeback with a goal at the nine minute mark but it was too little too late as Rebecca shot the puck through the five hole adding another Storm goal with assistance from Declan Handley and Kristian. At the final buzzer the Storm added another play-off victory with a score of 5-2. The Storm outshot the Stars by an impressive 31-7. Goalie Scotti Beneteau did a great job protecting the net. Congratulations on another great win Peewee Minors!!
Sunday March 17 the Storm headed to Chatham to play the Kent Cobra A team. After spending a late night at Coach Tim’s St. Patrick’s Day party the team was surprisingly energetic and more than ready to hit the ice. With goalie Scotti Beneteau once again protecting the net the Storm played strong and hard until the eight minute mark when Ethan Litster scored the first goal of the game assisted by Rebecca Misiasz and Declan Handley. The second period the Storm had a staggering 23 shots on net coming away with two more goals. The first (and game winning goal!) was scored by Kristian Pelling with help from Owen Stannard and Daniel Price and the second also scored by Kristian, this time off a pass from Austin Marr. In the third Kent started off the scoring three minutes into the period but then the Storm completely took over. One minute after the Kent goal Ethan scored his second of the day assisted by Declan and Austin. One minute later Daniel put the puck in the net with help from Kristian and Rebecca. At the halfway mark Michael Connelly fired the puck past the goalie assisted by Daniel and Declan. One minute later Ethan got goal number three and the hat trick assisted by Rebecca and Declan. Not quite ready to end his scoring streak Ethan popped in goal number four assisted once again by Rebecca and Declan. The game came to an exciting conclusion when on the penalty kill Owen Stannard intercepted the puck and headed to the net on a breakaway using his magic stick to fire the puck past the Kent goalie and bring the Storm tally to 9 goals! With a final score of 9-1 the Peewee Minors added another impressive victory to their play-off record. Goalie Scotti Beneteau was solid in net facing 13 shots, and the Storm defensive lines (Mitchell Renaud, Franco Shaften, Michael Connelly, Ryan Mucha & KayCyn Hernandez) did a great job protecting the net not allowing any goals during two penalty kills when they were down to three players. The offensive lines (Rebecca Misiasz, Daniel Price, Austin Marr, Declan Handley, Owen Stannard, Ethan Litster, Robbie Brush & Kristian Pelling) did a great job as well pummeling the Cobra goalie with 45 shots on net. Another great display of teamwork by these very talented athletes! Great job Storm!!!
