Erie North Shore Storm Peewee Majors – 10/12/13 to 10/13/13
Peewee Majors have a strong game against AA opponent this weekend!

10/12/13 – Storm vs. Kent Cobras AA

Saturday October 12 the Peewee Majors travelled to Chatham to take on the Kent Cobra AA team. Goalie Connor Axford took his place between the pipes and with a couple players and coaches missing the Storm prepared to take on the AA team. First period saw both teams fight hard for the puck with Chatham only slightly outshooting the Storm 6 to 4. With the period down to the last 2 minutes the Storm struck first with Owen Stannard solving the Kent goalie with assistance from Franco Shaften. Unfortunately 11 seconds later Kent answered that goal ending the period in a 1-1 tie. Second period saw the Cobras take the lead for a short time until Kristian Pelling put one past the goalie with help from Robbie Brush. The period ended in a 2-2 tie and both teams went into the third determined to come out ahead. Five minutes before the final buzzer Kent got one more past the goalie. The Storm tried their hardest to answer that goal but were unable to find the back of the net before the buzzer ending the game in a 3-2 loss. The shots on net were a very close 16-15 in Kent’s favour with the Storm chalking up their second penalty free game of the season! A very good effort by the Peewee Majors against this AA team, considering they were playing with a shortened roster!

10/13/13 – Storm vs. Riverside A

Sunday October 13 the Peewee Majors hosted the Riverside Rangers at Kingsville arena. With goalie Nate Jacobs protecting the net the Storm and Rangers prepared for another tight game. The teams penalty free streak ended relatively quickly as Trent Pickle received the first of many Storm hooking penalties in the game. Riverside could do nothing on the powerplay and the period ended with no score. In the second period Riverside had three more powerplay opportunities with Mitchell Renaud, Franco Shaften and Owen Stannard all spending time in the box. The Storm defense successfully fought them off and then on the first Storm powerplay of the game Kristian Pelling popped the puck in the net for an unassisted goal, giving the Storm the lead. In the third period the Storm fought hard to hang onto the lead but Riverside managed to tie it up 2 minutes before the final buzzer ending the game with a 1-1 score. The Storm outshot the Rangers 16-13 in this game. A great effort by all Storm!!!
