A busy weekend for the Erie North Shore Storm Peewee Majors with a win, a loss and a tie!

11/15/13 – Storm vs. Essex Ravens A

Friday November 15 the Storm played on home ice against the Essex Ravens. Goalie Connor Axford took his place in net and the team hit the ice. The powerful Storm offense outshot the Ravens this period and got on the board first with a powerplay goal by Ryan Mucha assisted by Ethan Litster. Twenty seconds before the period buzzer Essex tied it up and the two teams went into the second determined to break the tie and come out ahead. The Storm once again outshot the Ravens in the second but were unable to put the puck in the net as the score remained tied going into the third. Unfortunately in this period the Storm ran out of steam allowing three unanswered goals, ending the game with a 4-1 loss. Essex hammered Goalie Connor Axford with 12 shots in the third ending up with 22 shots on net with the Storm getting 17. These late night games really take their toll on the team!

11/16/13 – Storm vs. Riverside Rangers A

Saturday November 16 the Storm travelled to Windsor to take on the Riverside Rangers. Goalie Nate Jacobs was the netminder for the game. The Storm struck first getting on the board two minutes into the period with a goal by Ethan Litster assisted by Ryan Mucha. At the start of the second Riverside tied it up, but not for long. Franco Shaften shot one in off a pass from Kristian Pelling giving the Storm the lead once again. Then twenty seconds before the period buzzer Mitchell Renaud increased the tally by scoring off a pass from Ethan Litster. A few minutes into the third Riverside scored once more as they desperately tried to close the gap. Kristian Pelling responded with two goals, the first assisted by Austin Marr and Daniel Price and the second assisted once again by Austin Marr, giving the Storm a 5-2 victory! The Storm was outshot by Riverside 26-23 but still managed to pick up a big win! This was a very physical game with lots of powerplay opportunities on both sides as Riverside received 7 penalties while the Storm drew 5. Great game Storm!

11/17/13 – Storm vs. Kent Cobras A

Sunday November 17 the Storm travelled to Tilbury to take on the Kent Cobra A team. This was another physical game with both teams on the receiving end of 5 penalties each. The first period Kent came out strong outshooting the Storm but unable to get past goalie Connor Axford. In the second period the Cobras got on the board first while on the powerplay. The Storm answered that goal three minutes later when Franco Shaften solved the Kent goalie with help from Mitchell Renaud and Kristian Pelling. The Storm offense hammered the Cobra goalie with 16 shots this period while the Storm defense only allowed 4 shots on net! In the third the Storm offense stayed strong getting another 10 shots while the defense only allowed 3, but they just couldn’t get it past the hot Cobra goalie. The game ended in a 1-1 tie with the Storm outshooting the Cobras 27-11. Goalies Connor Axford and Nate Jacobs shared netminding duties and both did a great job defending the Storm net. Great job Storm!
