End of Season Wrap Up - January 10 & 11 /2015
The Storm concluded their regular season with a weekend showdown against the top 2 teams in the league.

Proving just how far they've progressed as a team this year, the Atom AE Storm battled hard against the Chatham-Kent Cyclones on Saturday and Windsor Jr. Spitfires on Sunday.

Chatham-Kent Vs. Storm - January 10/2015
The day started with a team breakfast at McDonalds as a reward for winning the AM 800 Team of the Week Award. It was a good bonding session for the team where they could share some laughs and enjoy each others company outside of the rink. Thanks to the staff at Kingsville's McDonalds for taking such good care of us.
Later in the day, things got serious prepping for the game, when the Coaches warned Kent would come out flying in an effort to avoid a season sweep. As predicted Kent started off very strong, having territory advantage for the first half of the period. Their strong play was rewarded by scoring the opening goal and leading 1-0 after the first period. Kent continued the pressure into the second period and went up 2-0 after the Storm failed to clear the puck from a scrum in front of the net. Enter the third period. In what used to be their Achilles heel, the Storm have recently turned the final 15 minutes into their strongest period. Determined not to waste a strong effort between the pipes by Tommy, the Storm ramped up their game and were rewarded when Mikayala drove hard to the net and put in a pass on her backhand with 6 minutes to go. With confidence abound the Storm took control of the final minutes of the game and finally, with the extra man on and the goalie almost to the bench, Aaron buried a wrist shot to tie the game with 25 seconds left. Final Score Storm 2 - Chatham-Kent 2
Congrats to the Storm for taking 7 out of 8 points from a top tier team.

Storm Vs. Windsor - January 11/2015
The final game of the regular season was not kind to the Storm. The Coaches emphasized the final score would be irrelavent as long as the team continued the same style of play which had garnered them great success over the last 4 weeks.  Unaccustomed of to how defend against Windsor's style of play, which left their shooters high in the slot, the Jr. Spitfires opened up a 4-0 lead after the first period. During the first intermission the coaches explained how to counter Windsor's system and the kids were told to forget about first period and to start over in the second period. The result was a much more competitive showing for the balance of the game. Teagan scored the last Storm goal of the regular season and the final score was Windsor 7 - Storm 1
Congrats to the Storm team on their progression over the year. From a team that started the year 0-5 their first 5 games to a team that finished 3-1-1 their last 5 games. Go Storm Go!!
Next up, Playdowns....yeah baby!!!
