Erie North Shore Storm Peewee Minors 12/16/12-12/22/12
Three more victories for the Peewee Minors as the year comes to a close!

Sunday Dec.16 the Peewee Minor team travelled to Leamington to take on Southpoint. Finally playing with a full roster again the Storm came out and played a great game from start to finish. Austin Marr started things off with the first goal of the game halfway through the first period. This unassisted goal would also turn out to be the game winner! Goalie Connor Axford prevented the tie by stopping a penalty shot (with lots of help from the Southpoint player!) just before the end of the period. Second period saw lots of action at the Leamington end of the rink, with five more Storm goals! Ethan Litster scored first assisted by Mitchell Renaud and Daniel Price. Kristian Pelling was next, assisted by Rebecca Misiasz. Robbie Brush scored the third goal of the period assisted by Austin. Kristian scored again assisted by Daniel, then scored once more for the hat trick, this time assisted by Rebecca. Great work out there Kristian!! In the third period the Storm refused to let up and scored two more times. Daniel scored the first goal assisted by Owen Stannard and Ethan, and Austin scored the final goal of the game assisted by KayCyn Hernandez and Ethan. Connor earned the shutout and the entire team should be proud of the great effort they put forth! With a final score of 8-0 the Storm outshot their opponents by an incredible 30-7!!

Friday December 21 the Storm hit the road once again. This time the opponent was the Windsor Jr. Spitfires AA team. This was the second time these two teams have met up this season with the last game resulting in a tie. Playing with a full roster once again, the Storm struck first, with a first period goal by Ethan Litster assisted by Austin Marr. Robbie Brush finished off the period with a goal assisted by Michael Connelly and Austin Marr. The Jr. Spits somehow managed to slip three goals past Scotti Beneteau ending the period with a one goal lead. The second period saw the Storm pick up speed to get two more goals and take over the lead. The first was scored by Ethan Litster and assisted by Rebecca Misiasz and Michael, with the second scored by Franco Shaften assisted by Owen Stannard. In the third the Jr. Spits scored once more to tie the game, but the Storm was not finished with them! KayCyn Hernandez put the game winner in the net assisted by Austin and Kristian Pelling, and then Ethan got an insurance goal assisted by Robbie Brush and Michael! The Storm outshot the Jr. Spitfires 26-21 and with a final score of 6-4 the Storm chalked up another victory!

Saturday December 22 the Storm were back on home ice against their arch rivals the Essex Ravens. The last meeting between these two teams did not go in the Storm’s favour, so this time they made sure they were well prepared to face them. For the third game in a row the Storm scored first, with a goal by Ethan Litster assisted by Michael Connelly and goalie Connor Axford! A minute before the end of the first period Austin Marr scored the game winning goal assisted by Robbie Brush. Second period saw one more Storm goal scored by Robbie and assisted by Kristian Pelling and Austin. Third period Essex got their one and only goal of the game robbing Connor of the shutout, but revenge was sweet when four seconds before the final buzzer Ryan Mucha scored an empty netter assisted by Kristian. Essex did not appreciate being on the losing end but made it easier for the Storm by racking up penalty after penalty, with one of their players finally getting ejected from the game. The Storm was outshot by Essex by a very slim margin of 15-14 and with a final score of 4-1 victory was the Storm’s!!!!

Next week the Storm travels to Brantford for the Gretzky Tournament! Good luck Peewee Minors!
