Storm vs. Belle River - Sunday December 20/2015
The Atom A.E. Storm traveled to Belle River on Sunday to face the Canadiens for the last time this season. The Team was in a festive mood and delivered an early Christmas present to their Coaches with a victory and clinching first place in their division.
The Coaches were a little concerned about the upcoming performance level for the following reasons
- School had just let out for Christmas break the previous Friday
- The Team had its Christmas party the night before ( Thank God the Moms didn't have to lace them up )
- A fat guy in a red suit was due for a visit in a few days
- The pregame warm up resembled Tim Bit hockey with the number of kids falling down
Alas, fears were dissolved when the Team went out and displayed one of their most dominant showings of the year.
The first period ended in a scoreless tie, despite the Storm controlling the puck in the offensive zone for most of the period.
The second period saw continued pressure by the Storm, but the games first goal wasn't scored until the end of the period when Wyatt's point shot went in off a defender in front.
The third period had Belle River getting frustrated with the Storms dominance, resulting in a string of penalties against the home team. The powerplay clicked from there with both Michael and Brady notching goals with the man advantage. Troy finished off the scoring with a goal in the final seconds.
