Storm Punch Their Ticket To The Ball
Submitted By Bubba Shaw on Thursday, March 31, 2016
By sweeping through the round robin and winning their semi-final contest, the Atom A.E. Storm are heading to the Day Of Champions this Saturday in Belle River. The top 2 teams of the Bluewater league will face off in a winner take all contest when the Storm take on the Chatham-Kent Cobras.

Chatham Kent Vs. Storm - March 24/2016 - Harrow

A victory in the last game of the round robin was needed to ensure the Storm a first place finish in the playoff pool and a semi-final contest against the fourth seeded finalist. Chatham, realizing what was at stake as well, came out strong and opened the scoring with a backhanded shot that was deflected past Tommy 2 minutes into the game. The Storm battled back and Connor scored to even the game 1-1 at the end of one. The second period featured opportunities at both ends but no goals and the teams entered the third period even at 1. Chatham Kent went ahead early in the third when a man broke in alone from the blue line and fired a nice shot, top shelf to make the score 2-1. Keegan scored at the nine minute mark and the two teams were once again deadlocked. The Storm took the lead for the first time on a nice passing play from Troy to Ian to Reilly who buried it from the slot making it 3-2 Storm. Teagan got the insurance marker with six minutes left, banging home a rebound from Ellie's point shot.
Final Score: Storm 4 - Chatham-Kent 2

Semi-Finals Tecumseh Vs. Storm - March 31/2016 - Harrow

The Team was not about to let a trip to the Championship game slip through their fingers. The energy in the dressing room carried over to the ice and the Storm scored 4 in the first, 3 in the second and 4 more in the third en route to a white washing of the Eagles. Michael led the way with 4 goals, followed by Mikayla with 2 and singles by Troy, Teagan, Keegan, Logan and Cooper.
Final Score: Storm 11 - Tecumseh 0

Championship game will be this Saturday, April 2/2016 - 11:15 am at the Atlas Tube Centre in Belle River vs. the Chatham-Kent Cobras.
See you all there.
