Blue Bombers Lose a tough one to ENS Gold
All of the ENS LL teams have been excellent thus far this season. Three of four teams were undefeated going into the weekend. With a head to head match up between the Bombers and ENS-Gold something had to give. Facing a potent ENS-Gold offense and sometimes Bomber goalie Jackson, the team had their work cut out for them.

The Blue Bombers were missing two key defensive players as “double trouble” Jagger and Maya were out of the lineup due to Christmasitis, a common infliction this time of year. As a result, Jaxon and Nate were asked to play defense. The game started in a tough way. Nathan who was fantastic in net versus Essex earlier in the season did his best but the ENS-Gold offense got out to a 4-0 lead halfway into the second period. This was despite several good chances by the Bombers, especially one opportunity by Grayson who skated through the entire team only to be stopped. Another opportunity by Owen who is growing into the role as a power forward, led to him almost banging in a rebound and Calvin and Grayson almost connected on a 2-on-1 passing play, shortly after that. The Bombers diehard fans know they never quit and they essentially played ENS-Gold even after that. Thomas scored assisted from Logan to close the gap. Nate played inspired defense in front of his goalie, breaking up play after play and laying his body on the line to block shots. Blake who is improving every game on defense was moving the puck all over the ice via chipping it up the boards or exciting the crowd with thrilling rushes. Matthew grabbed the puck in the offensive zone and created a chance with a nice little bit of stickhandling, showing he is putting in some serious work at home. A shift of Jaxon to forward from defense ignited him offensively and he had several nice dangles through the other team. Grayson scored in the 3rd period to make it 6-2 as the Bombers continued to push for more goals. This led to an aggressive play where Thomas, who was relentless on the puck all game, was dumped in the corner leading to Owen standing up for his buddy and ENS-Gold getting two penalties called on them. The resulting 5-on-3 situation led to Calvin roaming all over the ice with some nice rushes only to be thwarted at the net. Logan and Maiya almost had three goals in one shift after some scrambly play in front of the opposition net. The final score of the game was 7-2 for ENS-Gold. Hats off to them for a strong effort.
