A Slackers Guide to the End of the Season
The Boys finished the regular season 1-1-1 and finished second in the Bluewater league. Hats off to Belle River on winning the regular season!

The Storm Tie a Determined Cobras Team at Home.

The final few games of the season were upon us and all of the season’s hard work was culminating in a battle in Kingsville. The game started off with Erie going up 4-0 and completely dominating the play. However, full credit to the Cobras in that some strong goaltending and some serious counter punching power led to them rolling back with five unanswered goals to take the lead with 56 seconds left in the game. Coach Woolgar pulled out all of the stops and went with a line of Zack Hammond, Thomas Larsen and Emmitt Santarossa and they tied it up 19 seconds later. The Storm had one more chance to win it in the dying seconds, but could not. Hammond had a hat trick, Santarossa had a goal and two assists and Cooper Autterson had the other goal.

Talbot Trail Blazers Come to Town and Steal a 2-1 Win

Coming off a tie, there were a few chinks in the armor showing. In some ways, it’s better to have it show up in the regular season than in the playoffs. Well, that’s what happened. A vengeful Blazers team came to Harrow ready to play and boy did they. While the Storm carried the play most of the game, similar to the previous game against the Cobras they counterpunched and were able to get one in. Patrick Nantais had a great response goal giving the boys some hope, but the Blazers shut the door. Give the Blazers full credit they played a hard and aggressive game, proving that every game is up for grabs if you want it bad enough! Jaxon Keller won player of the game for keeping the boys in the game.

The Storm Regroup and Beat the Cobras to End the Season on a Winning Note.

Coach Woolgar called a team meeting before practice on Thursday to go over things. He reminded the players of their responsibilities and that team play always trumps individual play. You can’t blame kids for wanting to get one!  However, critical to being successful is that each player has a job on the ice and they need to do it to the best of their abilities. So, the boys followed that meeting with not the greatest practice they’ve ever had. Oh Boy-the dog days are here! The boys traveled to Chatham to play on the world's largest ice surface and out of the gate, the coaches were very proud of the response after the previous two games. The forwards passed the puck and the defense played defense. This led to the Storm running out to a 4-0 lead before the Cobras got on the board.  An adjustment of lines by Coach Woolgar seemed to do the trick to get the boys going with the line of Sam Hammel, Thomas Larsen and Zack Hammond pumping in three goals on some dynamite passing. The line of Owen Irvine, Emmitt Santarossa and Alessio Incitti was also very good with Irvine going bar down for one and Santarossa putting one home close in. Carter Russell had to be very strong between the pipes in the game as the Cobras are great off the rush. He carried the load to ensure a victory. Patrick Nantais won player of the game for gutting it out despite being under the weather. He simplified his game winning draws and making great passes, giving his best 20-30 seconds at a time.

The dog days are over, oh The dog days are done Can you hear the horses? 'Cause here they come
