It Has Begun....
After starting the 2016-2017 season with the friendly Can-Am series which saw the team win three of four, the Minor PeeWee's headed to the second best wine region in the province for the Garden City Early Bird Tournament.

Game # 1 - Storm vs. Garden City - St. Catherines, ON - Sept. 16 - 2:00 pm
Despite the early morning and long drive, the Team opened the tourney with a strong game against the host team.
However, the Storm only maintained a 1-0 lead late in the second period. After a rallying Coaches speech during the second intermission, the team went out and owned the third period for a decisive victory.
Final Score: Storm 6 - Garden City 0

Game # 2 - Brantford vs. Storm - St. Catherines, ON - Sept. 16 - 6:30 pm
It seems the long day caught up to the Team in the evening game as the Storm displayed their most lacklustre performance of the weekend and ended up losing a winnable game.
Final Score: Brantford 3 - Storm 1

Game # 3  - Storm vs. Hespeler - Welland, ON - Sept. 17 - 2:00 pm
The Storm rebounded well after a good nights rest by playing their best game of the tournament and dominating game 3 by outworking, outskating and outchancing their opponent.
Final Score: Storm 6 - Hespeler 1

Game # 4 - Burlington vs. Storm - Welland, ON - Sept. 17 - 5:45 pm
The Storm controlled their own destiny in the final game of the round robin as a victory would propel them into the championship round the next day.
The quick turnaround time between games took it's toll on the team and they quickly found themselves down 2-0 after 5 minutes. The Team began to find it's legs shortly thereafter and closed the gap to 2-1 after the first period. Despite taking control of the game in the second and third periods, the Team was only rewarded with 2 hit goalposts and a crossbar. The Storm pulled the goalie for the extra attacker and as bad luck would have it, an icing attempt from inside the Burlington zone found the mark and put the game away.
Final Score: Burlington 4 - Storm 1
Burlington then went on to win the Tournament.

Saturday marks the beginning of the Bluewater season with a game against the Tecumseh Shoreline Eagles.

Go Storm Go !!
