Storm Strike Down Ravens
In what was expected to be a long, hard fought series, the E.N.S Minor PeeWee's advanced to the second round of the Playdowns by sweeping three games from the Essex Ravens in three nights.

Game # 1 - Essex at Storm - Thursday January 19/2016 - 7:00pm - Kingsville
There were a lot of butterflies in the dressing room prior to game #1 as the kids had the demons of previous years eliminations at the hands of Essex still fresh in their minds. The nerves settled after the Team opened the scoring half way through the first period when a point shot from Ellie was redirected to Nate who put it past a sprawled goalie. The Storm went up 2-0 mid way through the second period when Cale jammed home a rebound from A.J.'s shot from the slot. Late in the second Essex got on the board in the flukiest of ways when Tommy's attempt to corral a rebound slid under his glove across the goal line. The Team responded well and regained the 2 goal lead scoring 15 seconds into the third period when Cole buried a nice feed from Cale on a 2 on 1 break.
Matteo finished off the scoring late in the third with an empty netter.
Final Score: Storm 4 - Essex 1

Game # 2 - Storm at Essex - Friday January 20/2016 - 8:00pm - Essex
Buoyed by their performance the night before the Storm dominated the opening period of game 2 with persistent forechecking and quality scoring chances. Despite the strong showing the Team only lead 1-0 after the first, thanks to Michael banging home Cole's rebound shot. Cole got one of his own in the second period and the Storm took a 2-0 lead into the third.
The Ravens came out on fire to begin the third, taking the play to the Storm during the first five minutes of the period. The Storm bent but did not break thanks to some quality goaltending and stingy defensive play, frustrating the Ravens. Once again the Storm finished out the scoring when Kohen potted an empty netter to seal the victory.
Ariana made some key saves in the third to earn the shutout.
Final Score: Storm 3 - Essex 0

Game # 3 - Essex at Storm - Saturday January 21/2016 - 3:10pm - Kingsville

With their backs against the wall facing elimination the Essex Ravens came out strong and got their first lead of the series scoring half way through the opening frame. Undeterred the Storm went to work with Nate scoring on consecutive powerplays making the score 2-1 Storm after one.
Cale put the Storm up 3-1 early in the second when, from the corner, he banked a rebound off the back of the downed goalie. The goal of the series came from Owen who did his best "Erik Karlsson" impression, going end to end, finishing by splitting the Defence and burying a shot low glove side to give the Storm a 4-1 lead.
Refusing to die Essex answered back with a goal late in the period, making it 4-2 after two periods. That score held up as the 2 teams played to a stalemate in the third resulting in a series sweep by the Storm.
Final Score: Storm 4 - Essex 2
